Two brilliant moms, Jeannette Dirksen and Melissa Kieling, bring the latest reusable lunch bag invention to us. PackIt is a PVC/ lead free, non-toxic, earth safe, reusable portable cooler. This pack is the coolest new way to keep your things colder for longer. You fold the lunch sack and put it in you freezer and when you’re ready, pack anything and go anywhere! The new Eco-Gel liner keeps the contents cold for up to 10 hours. Now that’s awesome.

The idea was conceived one morning while rushing around to pack their kid’s lunches in the morning. Every item they were grabbing needed to be kept cold so they ended up putting it all away instead of putting it in the lunch sack. They realized that it did not make sense to put back the items that were the healthiest. So the next thing you know, a business was born.

Preparing your meals at home is healthier for you, your family, as well as a money saver. 100 million plastic bags a week go into a landfill and Packit is a great way to help reduce this number. They come in 4 great colors at the moment with more to come in the next few months. Get yours now and save 10% until August 31st, 2010. Use the promotion code: PackIt at check out. Go Green!!

One of the most popular items here at All Green Things are Lunchskins. If you have not heard of these super fun reusable bags, I think you may be missing out! Lunchskins are a reusable sandwich and snack bag made from high-quality European fabric used by patisseries and bakeries. The fabric is independently tested and certified lead, BPA and phthalate free. Since this fabric withstands high heat it is perfect for the dishwasher. They are just as easy and convenient to use as plastic sandwich bags. Considering more than 20 million plastic lunch sandwich bags end up in landfills every day, using a lunchskin is a no-brainer!

There are many fun patterns to choose from. The latest hip and happy pattern to come on-line is Flower and Circuit. Help reduce waste in our landfills by switching from plastic lunch sandwich bags to LunchSkins. They are a terrific addition to your waste-free lunch routine.

Wean Green Glass cubes are a fantastic way to store your baby food! These stylish cubes hold 4 fluid ounces and have measuring lines to help monitor food intake. They are made of durable glass with a silicone lid that snaps in place with smart clips. Of course everything is BPA, PVC, Phthalate and Plasticizer free. A great quality of the glass cube is that it stands up to extreme temperatures required to make, store, freeze and heat baby food, or any food for that matter.

More and more moms are making their baby food when making the transition in to solid foods. Now there is a great storage solution for this transition. The Wean Green Glass cubes come in 4 great colors: Raspberry, Blueberry, Peas, and Carrots. How cute!

I personally do not have any babies, that I know of (just kidding), so I think I will be using the cubes for lunch items. I have slowly replaced my plastic containers with glass. I have found it difficult to find small glass lidded containers, and well, I no longer have that problem thanks to Wean Green!

I am waiting for my shipment to arrive, which will be here any day, so we are taking pre-orders. I am sure this will be a very popular item, so don’t delay!!

Melissa, the founder of Wean Green, shares recipes of the week on the Wean Green Blog. This is the most current:

4. Put the pumpkin in your baking pan so that the skin is facing up. Add the carrots and 1/4 cup water.

5. Bake for 45 minutes.

6. Scoop out the pumpkin from the skin.

7. Puree pumpkin and carrots together in a food processor or blender adding breast milk or water as needed.

We just received a new product today and it is awesome! LifeFactory has just introduced
their adult beverage bottle. It is made of glass and secured in a vibrant silicone sleeve that is 100% non-toxic and helps prevent breakage. The sleeve offers great gripping capabilities for easy toting and can be boiled or put in the dishwasher for convenient cleaning. The bottle is also equipped with a wide mouth for effortless cleaning and even allows essentials such as ice cubes to be simply added to your liquid.

This bottle is chic and comes in 6 fantastic colors: Pearl White, Midnight Blue, Sky Blue, Spring Green, Orange and Red. I picked Spring Green because it’s my favorite color. Funny how that works! The price is only $22.00.

Features & Benefits
* BPA, phthalate, PVC, and polycarbonate free
* Silicone sleeve is free of plastics and 100% non-toxic
* All materials are FDA approved
* With glass there is no chemical leaching and no metallic taste
* Widemouth bottle makes it easy to add ice, citrus slices, tea bags, etc
* Bottle and sleeve can be put in the dishwasher together
* 22oz (650ml)

I am diggin’ this bottle. I would say if I were on a treadmill or a hike the screw cap may be an issue, otherwise I really like this bottle! The design and materials used in the beverage bottle were adapted from Lifefactory’s original glass baby bottle, so now the whole family can stay hydrated safely and stylishly. The Lifefactory adult bottle is poised to be a favorite among the fashion, green and active lifestyle sectors.

For Lifefactory’s ongoing green initiatives in promoting health in their community, they are being honored with the Francine Levien Activist Award by the Marin based organization, Zero Breast Cancer. This honor is being given to Lifefactory for their continual work to change and improve the environment, especially in seeking to remove harmful chemicals that may contribute to the development of breast cancer. Lifefactory is also a proud member of the Bay Area Green Business Program, which recognizes companies that are environmentally responsible.

Who knew that I would have a love affair with stainless steel straws! I can honestly say that this straw is no ordinary straw. The stainless steel takes whatever you’re drinking and makes it a whole new kind of cold. I like to enjoy a good drink from time to time and I’m telling you a stainless steel straw makes any cocktail a whole lot better!

Plastic straws are flimsy and they’re just plain bad! Most recycling centers will not take them because they are a #5 plastic. A reusable stainless steel straw will dress up any beverage while being a great Eco option. These straws are made of 18/10 stainless steel, fashioned in the “bendy straw” style. They are 8.5″ long, dishwasher safe and may be the last straws you ever have to buy! Comes in a Set of 4.

Spiff up your next lemonade or margarita with one of these straws. They’re brilliant and they’ll quickly become the conversation piece at your next party!

With the holidays coming up fast, you’re probably starting to consider gift options. If toys are on your list you’ll [...]

With the holidays coming up fast, you’re probably starting to consider gift options. If toys are on your list you’ll want the piece of mind that the toys your children are playing with are safe and environmentally friendly.

This year consumers need to be aware of toys made by loose manufacturing standards. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced recalls of literally thousands of Chinese-made toys due to lead paint dangers, just in the month of November! So considering that your children, will more likely than not, chew everything edible and non-edible in his or her sight, this is motivation to make sure your child’s playthings are green and healthy!

Recently, I read in Green Home & Family magazine about a California Company that makes a toy line from 100% recycled plastic materials. Everything in the toy line has been thoroughly tested by nationally recognized independent labs located in the USA. They contain no traceable amounts of Phthalates or BPA. They’re also designed without any external coatings, eliminating the fear of lead paint. The toys are made in the USA and every step of the toy making process takes place in California, which saves energy and means fewer greenhouse gasses from transportation.

Even the packaging of Green Toys is environmentally friendly. They use as little packaging as possible and the material used (recycled corrugated boxes) is 100% recyclable. They don’t use any plastic or twist ties which means the boxes are easy to open and there are no dangerous parts. Kids can open the package themselves with no help from Mom or Dad. I think the search for green toys for the holiday season is over!

One more thought… for all of you who will over indulge with the food this holiday season, this cool Eco Saucer might come in handy when the meal is over and it’s time to burn off some calories☺

My Boxer Otis loves his new doggie treats! In fact I have had to cut way back because he can go through a bag a day if I let him. This is a rare thing because he has to be the most finicky eater, as far as dogs go, I’ve ever known!! So Otis definitely approves of “A Pocketful of Treats”.

The biscuits are handmade in small batches and contain specific ingredients targeted at a variety of dog health concerns. His favorite are the Breath Bombs and thank goodness for that because he has very stinky breath.

I approve this new all natural/organic dog biscuit line for several reasons. It’s Wheat Free, Corn Free, Soy Free, Dairy Free and No Artificial Colors or Artificial Preservatives. This treat line also gives back! A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the biscuits will be donated to Pets for the Environment. I love, love, love that the dog biscuit line is made locally right here in Woodland Hills. It just does not get any better than that!

The maker of these fabulous dog biscuits is Jodi Plaia. Believing in her heart that there must be a better way for her dog, dog owners, and the planet, she began her journey into cooking and baking an organic “real food” diet for her dog. She noted the almost immediate health benefits in her Miniature Schnauzer, Pockets: those extra unhealthy pounds dropped, her coat was shiny and vibrant, her skin allergies improved, she had more energy, and now, had more “kissable” breath. As Jodi continued on this journey with other concerned dog owners and friends, A Pocketful of Treats was born.

For a limited time only, buy 3 bags or more and get 20% OFF! Offer expires October 27th, 2009. Please use coupon code Pockets09 at checkout.
